He discusses the role of culture in shaping agricultural productivity in eastern and southern Africa and how we may approach the intersections between gender and class in agrarian political economy. Haroon Akram-Lodhi is Professor in the Department of International Development Studies at Trent University, Canada and the Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Journal of Development Studies.
